Event Overview & Abstract
A profound moment of grace and renewed commitment marked the official inauguration of the Academic Year 2026–2027 at the Jnanodaya Institute of Philosophy. The day commenced with a solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist, invoking God’s blessings and guidance upon the entire academic community as it embarked on another year of intellectual pursuit, spiritual growth, and philosophical reflection. The altar was beautifully adorned with the image of a descending dove, symbolizing the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit, who enlightens minds, strengthens hearts, and leads seekers towards the truth.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Doss Kennedy SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Trichy (INT), who presided over the inaugural celebration. The presence of Rev. Fr. Victor Antonyraj SDB, Vice Provincial of INT, and Rev. Fr. Ricopar Rayan SDB, Economer of INT, added significance to the event, reflecting the importance of philosophical formation in the life and mission of the Salesian Congregation. Their presence served as a source of encouragement and inspiration to the professors and brothers as they began a new academic journey.
The inaugural lecture was delivered by Rev. Fr. Abraham Savarimuthu SDB, Administrator of the community. His address set a meaningful tone for the academic year, highlighting the importance of serious study, intellectual openness, disciplined reflection, and the integration of knowledge with personal growth and spiritual maturity. The celebration was a reminder that philosophical formation goes beyond the acquisition of academic knowledge; it seeks to develop critical thinking, deepen the understanding of human existence, and prepare future Salesian educators and ministers to respond meaningfully to the challenges of the contemporary world.
The inauguration thus became not merely the beginning of another academic year, but also an invitation to renew the commitment to learning, truth, wisdom, and integral formation. Entrusting the year to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Jnanodaya Institute of Philosophy looks forward to a fruitful academic journey marked by grace, enlightenment, and a deeper understanding of the human person and the divine.
