Institute Emblem

The Heraldic Coat of Arms of Jnanodaya

An eloquent synthesis of faith, virtue, wisdom, and sacrificial love.

1. The Book

It stands for philosophical inquiry. The Institute invites the student to seek the truth in the thoughts of sages, philosophers, and saints, irrespective of their cultural and religious affiliation, in an open and critical spirit of research.

2. The Lotus

It signifies virtue and purity. Rooted in the waters yet blooming spotless toward the sun, the lotus symbolizes that while seeking to impart intellectual knowledge, the institute strives to provide integral moral and spiritual formation.

3. The Lamp

It stands for Christ, the Eternal Light. Christ enlightens us in the philosophical endeavour, as proclaimed in the Book of Revelation: "And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb" (Rev 21:23).

4. The Cross

Occupying the preeminent central place, the Cross symbolizes Christ who is the fulfilment of every form of knowledge and human aspiration. The institute strives to lead each candidate 'to know Him and Him Crucified' (1 Cor 2:2).
