"Let Him Illumine Our Mind!"

Ṛg Veda 3.62.10 — Gāyatrī Mantra

Biblical & Indian Theological Synthesis

Jnanodaya Salesian Institute of Philosophy has chosen as its motto the profound invocation: "Let Him Illumine Our Mind!"

It is taken from the Ṛg Veda 3.62.10 and is part of the revered Gāyatrī Mantra, one of the most sacred prayers of the Indian philosophical tradition.

This prayer has been adopted because for Christian students of Philosophy, Christ is the Supreme Luminary who enlightens everyone born into the world (cf. Gospel of John 1:9). As philosophers and disciples, we seek this divine illumination to penetrate beyond mere appearances and apprehend transcendent truth.

The Light of Christ

"The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world." — John 1:9

In harmony with Indian wisdom, the philosopher's quest is not a dry intellectual exercise, but an interior awakening (Jnanodaya) where reason meets divine light, transforming the scholar into an authentic educator and witness.
