Event Overview & Abstract
The Jnanodaya Salesian Institute of Philosophy hosted the Pope’s Day Seminar 2026 with great enthusiasm and intellectual fervour, bringing together religious and formees from various congregations in Yercaud for a meaningful day of reflection, learning, and dialogue. The central theme of this year’s gathering was the presentation and study of Magnifica Humanitas, a new encyclical by Pope Leo XIV. The seminar provided a valuable opportunity for the participants to engage with the Holy Father’s vision and reflect on the significance of his teaching in the context of the Church’s mission and the challenges facing humanity today.
The programme featured insightful keynote addresses delivered on stage, introducing the central ideas and key messages of the encyclical. These were followed by dedicated reading sessions, during which participants explored the text and deepened their understanding of its essential themes. The seminar was designed not merely as a platform for listening and receiving information, but as an opportunity for active participation, critical reflection, and the sharing of perspectives.
One of the highlights of the gathering was the interactive small-group discussions held in circles outdoors on the beautiful campus lawns. These sessions created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in which participants could freely express their thoughts, listen attentively to one another, and learn from the diverse experiences and insights of fellow religious and formees. The circular arrangement symbolised equality, openness, and mutual respect, fostering a genuine spirit of synodality and collaborative learning.
The seminar became a fruitful occasion for strengthening fraternity among the religious communities of Yercaud while encouraging a deeper engagement with the teachings of the Holy Father. By combining academic input, personal reading, and collective reflection, Pope’s Day Seminar 2026 highlighted the importance of listening, dialogue, and shared responsibility in the life of the Church. The gathering concluded as a meaningful experience of intellectual enrichment and spiritual communion, inspiring the participants to carry the insights gained into their respective communities and apostolic missions.
